Does Marne mustard contain gluten or allergens??

We regularly receive questions about gluten and allergens in our products. We know how important it is that our customers are well informed about this.

gluten

Our mustard products are in principle gluten-free. We do not use ingredients that contain gluten for our mustard. An exception to this are the Mustard sauces. These may contain gluten.

When harvesting the mustard seed, there is a chance that a stray wheat ear will unintentionally remain in the seed. Of course, the mustard seed is cleaned after harvest and sieved again in our mustard factory. However, it cannot be ruled out that gluten-containing material ends up in our mustard. However minimal the chance of this is due to all the precautions.

With smooth mustards, such as our Honey mustard, Dijon mustard and French mustard, the chance of gluten being present will be smaller than with coarse mustards. Coarse mustard types, such as Groningen mustard and Limburg mustard, consist of whole or coarsely ground mustard seeds. Any piece of gluten-containing material present could get between the unground seed in these variants. Fortunately, the chance of this mixing is also very small.

In a smooth mustard, any traces of gluten are more distributed than in coarse mustard. Samples on smooth mustards show a gluten content of <20 ppm. We realize that these values only say something about the controlled batches and not about all our products.

Allergens

In addition to mustard seeds, the following allergenic substances are processed in our factory: sulfite, cinnamon, coriander, legumeswheat flour) and with our Mustard Sauces: ei en wheat. These allergenic substances are contained in ingredients that we receive and/or use.
