Cheese-Mustard puff pastry snacks with smoked sausage
Puff pastry snacks always go very well at a party or on the drinks board! Have you seen the standard sausage-in-puff pastry snack? This version is just a bit more exciting and tastier!
Preparation method
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and let the puff pastry slices thaw.
- In the meantime, make the roux. Melt the butter in a saucepan and then add the flour. Stir this thoroughly with a whisk for about 2-3 minutes. Make sure it doesn't burn! Then add the milk little by little until it is a thick mass. Turn off the heat.
- Then fold in the cheese, the mustard and the smoked sausage pieces. Taste and season with salt, pepper and possibly some more mustard. Let cool slightly.
- Cut the puff pastry slices in half so that you get 12 slices. Place a tablespoon of the mustard mixture on half of 1 slice (leave the edges free). Fold the other half over and press the edges closed with the back of a fork. Repeat this for all slices. Place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper
- Beat the egg in a small bowl. Brush the puff pastry bites with a little egg and sprinkle with some more cheese.
- Bake them in the oven for about 20 minutes until golden brown!
